Papers of John Leverett, 1652-1730

John Leverett (1662-1724) was the first lawyer and jurist to become Harvard College president (1707/08-1724). This collection consists of diaries, lectures, sermon notes, letters, commissions, deeds, sketches, and bills, which document his activities as a Harvard College tutor, as president of Harvard College, as a jurist, and as a lawyer.
